Our guiding principles

At West Franklin Community Church, our faith is built upon foundational truths that shape who we are and what we do. Discover the core beliefs that unite us and illuminate our path.

The authority of holy scriptures

We believe the Bible is God’s divine revelation to humanity, comprising the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, it is the infallible Word of God, fully breathed out in every word (1 Corinthians 2:7–14; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20–21). We uphold the Bible as the sole and ultimate rule of faith and practice, entirely true and reliable in all its declarations (Matthew 5:18; 24:35; John 10:35; 16:12–13; 17:17; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15–17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20–21). We interpret scripture literally, grammatically, and historically, understanding that while a passage may have multiple applications, it possesses only one true interpretation.

Our understanding of God and salvation

It is vital for our visitors to understand our beliefs because they illuminate the nature of God and the path to salvation. We teach there is one true and living God (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5–7; 1 Corinthians 8:4), who is eternal (Revelation 1:8), infinite (Job 11:7–10), and an absolute Spirit (John 4:24). He is perfect in all His attributes, including His incomprehensibility (Romans 11:33), omniscience (1 John 3:20), omnipotence (Genesis 18:14), omnipresence (Psalm 139:7–10), immutability (Malachi 3:6), and aseity (Exodus 3:14; John 5:26). We also believe that salvation is entirely of God’s grace, founded on the redemption offered by Jesus Christ—His perfectly righteous life and atoning blood—not on human merits or works (John 1:12; Romans 5:18–19; Ephesians 1:7; 2:8–10; 1 Peter 1:18–19).

Key scriptural foundations

Central to our faith are specific Bible verses that highlight the hope and promises we hold dear. We teach that Jesus Christ will return to take His church, which is His Body, to Himself at the rapture. Following this, He will return with His church in glory to establish His millennial kingdom on earth (Acts 1:9–11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18; Revelation 20). These passages underscore our hope in Christ's return and the future restoration He promises.
